Farmersville: A Texas Treasure

FUN FACT:

In the 1930’s, Farmersville was known as the “Onion Capital of North Texas,” shipping over 1,000 carloads of onions annually.

A historical Collin County town, Farmersville offers diverse activities for the whole family. Perfect for nature-lovers, residents of Farmersville enjoy Chaparral Trail, the fifth longest trail in the U.S, stretching 130 miles across northeast Texas. On the trail you can enjoy mountain biking, horseback riding, or hiking. Delightful restaurants, antique stores, a yarn and knitting shop, and more can all be found in Farmersville’s quaint historic downtown.

Farmersville, A National Register District designation, is a small town full of history with a great heritage in its beautiful architecture, brick streets, historic Onion Shed, Bain-Honaker House, and much more. Though the town cherishes its history, Farmersville has a vibrant young population with half of its 3600 residents under the age of 24 years old! Farmersville has maintained a small town feel while being conveniently close to all the shopping and entertainment anyone could want. McKinney, a fast growing city, is only 16 miles west of town, and Lavon Lake is just minutes away.

The north end of Lake Lavon is less than five miles from Farmersville’s historic downtown. With 33 square miles of water and 121 miles of shoreline, there’s an abundance of activities to partake in. Enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, or simply relaxing on the shore. For children, Lake Lavon Camp in nearby Princeton offers water slides, a lake blob, ropes course, and more!
